I don’t know if you saw the story, but I got into a little wreck the other night. It was actually a huge wreck.
Before I get to all things beer going on in and around the state (mostly around, as my “Idaho Craft Beer” Google news thing only turned up my column from Tuesday), I want to thank all the people that stopped to help us out of the car and hung out with us until, and after, the police and fire department arrived.
I know one guy’s name was Jim and I think the other guy’s name was Rick, and I just wanted to use this space to say thanks to those guys and all the others that stopped. I also want to thank the police and fire crews that helped as well. It was a really scary accident and I’m so very happy and fortunate that my two soon-to-be step-children and I walked away from it with some scrapes and bruises. It was nothing short of amazing that nobody from either car was hurt.
Anyway, on to the links!
Peyton Manning may have said he preferred to have a Bud Light after last week’s win against the San Diego Super Chargers, but his neighbors from down the street, Left Hand Brewing, called an audible on the venerable quarterback.
The Longmont, Colo., brewery —best known for its delicious Nitro Milk Stout — sent Manning a care package that included some delicious craft beers and a note saying he’d better change the play when it comes to beer choices, especially if he’s going to lead a team from Denver!
If you don’t already, follow Eric Gorski for all the Denver area beer news. He’s a great guy and a great follow!
Bud Bowl-ing Over the Airwaves
Anheuser-Busch, the king of macro-lagered beers, announced that it will be dominating the airwaves during this year’s Super Bowl, putting on five new commercials. So, look out America! Bud and Bud Light will occupy 3.5 minutes of airtime (and 0% of my refrigerator) during the yearly ratings monster and I’m sure they’ll be talked about and whatever.
Drinking Buddies on Netflix
Well, it’s out on Netflix for streaming subscribers. I watched it yesterday and my fiancé and I both really enjoyed it. I give it 3.5 bottlecaps! Olivia Wilde, of course, is great and the other people, including that guy from Office Space, were good too. An all-around fun movie and one you should check out.
Also, while I’ve got you here, check out the return of Myrcenary Double IPA and Mountain Standard Black IPA, both from Odell and both delicious, on the shelves at Rudy’s A-Cook’s Paradise. The Odell Double Pilsner, with the owl on it, is also back on shelves so check that out as well. Cheers!
